Bear Creek Park is located in Lakewood Colorado! I collected the water from a very small and shallow pond on the south side of the creek This small pond is located just west of Wadsworth!! I chose this small pond because it was shaded, small and was a definite alternative to collecting in the man made lakes which I have collected from very often! Unfortunately, at the time, I did not notice the Polyvinyl pipe coming out from the side of the hill that was designed to pour into the small pond! So, if not man made, it certainly was directly influenced by man's activities!

The PH of the small pond was 7.5 and The Ammonia level was 1.0 PPM! The salt level was between 0.00 and 0.02 percent and the Nitrile content was not measurable with my equipment! The high ammonia content could have been due to the polyvinyl pipe outlet over the pond! Since there was no measurable nitrile content, it would appear that there was no breakdown of the ammonia going on! The pond was very shallow and in the process of drying up! When I first saw it in June of 2005, it was about 30 by 15 feet! It had dried to less than half of that when I collected it in late summer 2005. The only characteristic of the pond was its shallowness and the fact that it was covered with a very thick layer of Duck Weed!!
