Around 7900 S. Quincy is an urban pond right next to the one in the Federal Penitentiary on the North side of S. Quincy! Was doubtful I could go onto the Penitentiary grounds, so, I took some from the interconnected pond on the South side of W. Quincy. The pond is surrounded by Condos on the South and Streets to the East and West!

The only high reading I obtained in testing the pond was 0.5 ppm Ammonia. I did not see any fish in the pond. There were cattails surronding most of the pond. There was an algae mass in the shallows of the pond! I collected from as many as the different areas I could near the edge of the pond! The pond contained snails and other small (1/8th inch) shrimp like organisms. The large invertebrates included Daphnia and Chydorids. There was a motile protozoa that appeared to be like E. acus but I saw no flagella! There was also a small curcular organism that was very motile!
